Our StoryMeet the two families that established the Guardian Angel Homes traditions. Marty & Cindy Frantz and Their Family Guardian Angel Homes is a story about family. This story began nearly twenty years ago with a down-to-earth family man, Marty Frantz, whose philosophy has always been to help others and treat everyone like family. In 1997, Marty’s father suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with severe dementia. The search for a place for his father, Walt, made Marty realize that a loving homelike atmosphere that could provide the specialized care that his father needed and deserved was just not available. Marty determined to design and build a home where people like his father could live and be cared for with dignity and warmth. After exhaustive research and design and architecture planning, Marty built the first Guardian Angel Homes facility in Post Falls, Idaho. It was exactly the kind of place that Marty wanted for his own father and the Assisted Living Federation of America awarded its “Best of Home Design” to Guardian Angel Homes. Sadly, Marty’s father passed away in June 2000, just weeks before this project was completed. Since that time, all of Marty’s seven children have worked at Guardian Angel Homes in various capacities, helping to ensure that Marty’s philosophies and passion for excellent resident care are instilled throughout all our practices. In 2008, Marty’s mother moved in to the Guardian Angel Homes facility in Post Falls and remains there today. John & Angela Geddes and Their Family John Geddes became involved with Guardian Angel Homes shortly after the first campus opened in Post Falls, Idaho. John had recently experienced similar frustrations as Marty after his father, Jim, passed away following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. John knew that his father could have thrived in the home-like setting of Guardian Angel Homes. Building on his own personal experiences with elderly parents, John is a strong advocate of the “aging in place” philosophy and utilizes his law background to ensure that each resident who joins the Guardian Angel family keeps every bit of their personal dignity, independence and freedom of choice. |
